The restomodded 911 features an enhanced 3.5-liter flat-six engine, equipped with a GT3 air intake plenum and updated throttle bodies.
The RSR Project stripped the original chassis and installed fiberglass bumpers and fender flares.
Rogan chose a classic interior, showcasing black upholstery without any modern technology.
The cost for this build begins at $375,000, available with either a 3.4-liter or 3.5-liter flat-six engine.
Podcaster and comedian Joe Rogan has an impressive car collection and earlier this year added a heavily modified Tesla Model S Plaid. Based in Texas, Rogan is also a devoted Porsche 911 fan, having acquired a custom-built 911 from Gunther Werks a few years ago. He has now further expanded his garage with another unique 911.
The RSR Project has brought this particular 911 RSR tribute to life, which originally began as a 1980s 911, like all models produced by the New York-based firm. The original chassis has been preserved but was galvanized and stripped down, then enhanced with steel fender flares, custom fiberglass bumpers, and a ducktail spoiler.
For the restoration, the team disassembled the original engine's lower section, replacing bushings, bearings, seals, springs, and valves while resurfacing the cylinder heads. The flat-six now includes twin-plug heads, a GT3 air intake plenum, Clewett Engineering throttle bodies, new camshafts, fuel injectors, ignition coils, and an Emtron SL ECU. These modifications enable the engine to produce around 300 hp, sufficient power for such a lightweight vehicle.
The car’s cabin has also seen significant upgrades. It has been stripped and reupholstered, now featuring a new Porsche Classic dashboard. New carpets were added, as well as custom fixed-shell bucket seats wrapped in black vinyl with nickel grommets, taking inspiration from those in the original Ford GT40.
Additionally, the car has a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, a short shifter, and a modern air conditioning system. Although The RSR Project provides modern sound systems in its vehicles, Rogan opted out of any technology or audio enhancements.
Company founder Richard Schickman describes each RSR Project vehicle as a machine meant for driving, not just for display. “Every RSR we create is designed to be driven and fully enjoyed,” he stated, adding that Rogan’s vehicle was driven over 700 miles prior to delivery to ensure it offers the intended thrilling experience.
Yes, It's Expensive
With a starting price of $375,000, these custom 911s typically end up costing more due to the vast range of customization options available.
