Lucid’s midsize SUV and its rugged variant are anticipated to launch in 2026 and 2027.
The automaker plans to incorporate advanced technology from its flagship models into these more affordable electric vehicles.
All three midsize models will be produced at Lucid’s AMP-2 facility in Saudi Arabia.
Now that the luxurious Gravity SUV is available alongside the Air sedan, Lucid can shift its focus towards creating more affordable models that will resonate with a broader audience. The company has already confirmed that it is developing an SUV priced below $50,000 and has now stated that the new midsize platform will also give rise to two additional models, including a more rugged SUV inspired by the Gravity X concept.
Lucid released a teaser image of its third model approximately a year ago. This SUV, possibly named the Earth, will incorporate recognizable Lucid design elements but will be significantly smaller than the Gravity. During a recent appearance at the Munich motor show, Lucid's interim CEO Marc Winteroff indicated that the Gravity X will influence the design and characteristics of one of its upcoming midsize models.

This influence might lead to standard off-road features such as a raised ride height, all-terrain tires, unique bumpers, protective skid plates, and tow hooks. The design hints at a crossover that merges Lucid’s elegant style with a more adventurous spirit.
Timing and Challenges
Unfortunately, we will have to wait quite a while before this vehicle is available. Lucid plans to begin production of its sub-$50,000 electric SUV by late next year, but in conversation with Car and Driver, Winteroff acknowledged that Lucid requires additional funding to achieve this timeline. Once that financial backing is secured, the company will be able to increase production and likely be poised to launch the off-road variant in early 2027.
Once the midsize SUV and its rugged counterpart are available for sale, Lucid will progress with a third model that remains undisclosed for now. The company has confirmed that it will not be a sedan and aims for a launch by late 2028. All three vehicles are expected to be manufactured at Lucid’s AMP-2 factory in Saudi Arabia.
While discussing the midsize models with CarBuzz, Lucid’s senior vice president of design and brand, Derek Jenkins, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for taking the technology from its luxury models and making it accessible to a broader customer base.
“We’re actively developing our mid-size program right now, and of course, these will be compact, lighter vehicles with a strong emphasis on aerodynamics, efficiency, and space,” he stated. “They won’t be as fast as the Air, but they will be impressive, and they will be offered at a price point that many more people can afford. The overall goal is to leverage our technology to reach a wider range of consumers and expedite that transition.”
