The 2026 Telluride adopts a strong, Range Rover-inspired design that enhances its presence on the road.
Its spacious nine-seat interior features advanced Google-based connectivity.
This model debuts a completely new hybrid powertrain, marking Kia's shift toward electrified SUVs.
Considered one of Kia’s most attractive modern vehicles, the Telluride has gained significant popularity, with sales projected to surpass the record set in 2024. In the first half of the year alone, U.S. sales increased by 15 percent, rising from 53,700 to 61,502 units. To keep the momentum going, this stylish large SUV is preparing for a substantial redesign, which will introduce a boxy new look along with a fresh hybrid powertrain.

Recent spy images indicate that test vehicles are in the advanced stages of development, suggesting an official unveiling could happen within the next few months. While we wait, we’ve provided an illustrative preview in X-Pro form and gathered all available information regarding it.
Big and Boxy
The upcoming Telluride ditches the current model’s more subdued muscular design in favor of a distinctly boxier look that may resonate with Range Rover styling principles. Nonetheless, this design has more in common with its corporate counterpart, the new Hyundai Palisade.
Regardless of personal preference, the front end features double-stacked daytime running lights that tilt inward, and the upper grille is divided by the hood, creating the signature ‘tiger nose’ that Kia is known for. The X-Pro variants showcase vertical elements with recovery points framing the lower intake.

From the side, the expansive roof is complemented by black A-pillars, and the wheel arches feature color-coordinated accents for a more sophisticated appearance. Unlike the Palisade, the rear quarter glass is separated by thick D-pillars adorned with a prominent black upper trim (a trend that we believe should be phased out). At the rear, there is a notably Range Rover-like upright tailgate and tinted vertical taillights.
A More Comfortable Interior
Inside, the three-row, nine-seat Telluride will reflect the design principles of the electric EV9, showcasing a technology-rich and open cabin. Noteworthy interior features include a wider center console with a split-opening storage compartment, elevated grab handles, electrically adjustable massaging seats, and optional captain’s chairs for the second row.
The dashboard incorporates Kia’s latest ‘ccNC’ digital instrument panel and infotainment display, complete with Google-based functionalities, such as Google Places and advanced voice assistance. Additional features comprise a digital key and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability for powering external devices.
Internal Combustion with an Electric Advantage
Early reports indicated the continuation of the 3.8-liter V6 engine, but it now seems Kia may replace it with a more compact 3.5-liter Smartstream GDi V6, delivering 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, a new turbocharged 2.5-liter hybrid option will be available, producing a combined output of 329 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque.

Unverified reports hint at a future inclusion of a 2.5-liter extended range electric vehicle (EREV) variant, where the four-cylinder engine functions solely as a generator to charge the battery, while dual electric motors provide propulsion through an electric all-wheel-drive system.
Competition and Anticipated Launch
With its advanced hybrid powertrain, premium technology, and striking design, the next Telluride is poised to maintain its current sales success. Key competitors include Hyundai’s Palisade, Chevrolet Traverse, Toyota Grand Highlander, Mazda CX-90, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, and Nissan Pathfinder.

The Telluride is set to be unveiled later this year, with sales expected to commence in early 2026. Production will continue at Kia’s KMMG facility in West Point, Georgia.
So, what are your thoughts? Does the new, sharper Telluride appeal to you, or does it feel like too much of a shift?
