My 1975 International Scout is waking up from its hibernation. When I parked it about 20 months ago, I filled it with ethanol-free 91-octane gasoline and added some Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer, but I suspect the fuel has still degraded somewhat. If I siphon out the stale gas, new fuel should improve the performance of the old V8. This prompted me to search for affordable jerry cans (to dispose of the bad gas), and I found these vintage-looking ones on sale.
I don't have any experience with the Vevor brand, but I have seen it around. At $35.44 (via Lowe’s Home Improvement Store) for classic 5.3-liter jerry cans that typically cost about $50, I’m tempted to consider these for their aesthetic appeal alone. They simply look like what gas cans should look like, as silly as that may sound.
That said, if you're looking for the most economical option to safely transport five gallons of gasoline, the Midwest Can 5610 offers a better price. It's currently on sale for $17.97 (via Walmart) and ships right away. Reportedly made in the USA, it "meets CARB and EPA standards." I’ll be opting for a couple of those for my Scout-siphoning task since my county’s recycling centers probably won’t return my cans of unusable fuel when I take them to a hazardous waste collection event. So, I might as well get the absolute cheapest option that’s certified for holding fuel and oil.
