Among the various types of content we produce at The Drive, there’s one category that often sparks debate: deals. From our inbox, it's evident that while some of you appreciate them, others find them quite off-putting. I understand the sentiment. Every website is trying to market something to you, including our friendly car news outlet. On the other hand, being a car enthusiast typically involves purchasing various items, and who doesn’t enjoy saving money on products?
To be transparent, we share deals because they contribute to our revenue, allowing us to maintain a free website. When you click on a deal we present and make a purchase, we earn a small commission. I genuinely believe that a platform like ours can offer valuable deals to our audience, though I admit we haven't always lived up to that expectation.
We’re revamping our entire strategy. Today, I’m excited to introduce The Drive’s DealEngine, an AI-driven bot we've developed to search Amazon.com for fantastic deals on automotive products. This includes items like Craftsman tools, Bilstein shocks, Dometic fridges, Meguiar’s soap, Mobil 1 oil, and various parts such as wheel hub assemblies. It will share these deals on a new X/Twitter account multiple times a day before they expire. We would appreciate it if you could give it a follow.
Why X and Amazon? They provide an accessible way to automate and test technology like this, as that’s ultimately our goal. We aim to create a tool that functions seamlessly across any platform and retailer, and this represents our initial step. We might as well leverage AI to benefit enthusiasts, right? And if deals aren't your thing? Feel free to ignore this initiative entirely.
It’s evident that just posting a deal on the homepage and hoping for your interest won’t work moving forward. While we’ll still occasionally feature those deals, you visit us primarily for news, car reviews, and cultural stories. This new project will assist us in continuing those efforts while hopefully demonstrating its value to you. We welcome your feedback: [email protected].
