The electric supercar concept takes cues from the GAC Aion Hyper SSR.

On August 25, 2025, at 19:37, Michael Gauthier reported that GAC Design has unveiled the Hyptec SSR Baja concept.

This rally-inspired electric supercar reflects the essence of the Hyper SSR.

Following the success of vehicles like the Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, rally-themed sports cars and supercars are predicted to be the next major trend. Recently, Ford CEO Jim Farley expressed interest in a 1,000 hp off-road supercar suited for sand and gravel.

GAC Design has made its mark with the Hyptec SSR Baja concept, which pays homage to the “culture, authenticity, and design roots of its hometown” in Los Angeles, California. As indicated by its name, the vehicle is inspired by the GAC Aion Hyper SSR but features a rugged redesign for exceptional performance in desert and sand racing situations.

While the company provided limited details, the concept showcases a raised suspension and robust off-road tires, complemented by cladding, side steps, and numerous auxiliary lights. Notably, it includes a large rear spoiler and a compact bed designed to carry two spare tires.

The designers also had fun with the concept's graphics, which would fit perfectly on a “ski lift tower, a streetlight in Los Angeles, or the wall of a well-worn dive bar.” Additionally, the model features a cactus mascot named Mr. Pincho and an “EVNONOIL” badge that plays on the Pennzoil Liberty Bell logo.

The butterfly doors open to reveal a minimalist cockpit equipped with a roll cage and stylish sport seats reminiscent of the classic Recaro CS Spectrum designs. These seats have unique center sections inspired by Mexican serape blankets.

Other notable features include a squared-off steering wheel, a slim digital instrument cluster, and what seems to be a fire suppression system. GAC also mentioned that the concept incorporates a color-shifting safety net, Alcantara upholstery, and exposed carbon fiber.
