'Mom, Please Come Get Me': Birthday Boy Pleads as Police Impound His Ferrari for Speeding | Carscoops

Police towed a speeding driver's Ferrari 458 and were entirely unaffected by his appeals for mercy since he was en route to his birthday celebration.

Caught driving nearly twice the speed limit in a Ferrari, he attributed it to his birthday festivities.

Nothing quite encapsulates “happy birthday” like receiving a ticket, a tow truck, and having to call your mom.

The officers were not swayed by his party excuse or his speed of 130 km/h in a 70 zone.

Speeding can result in various repercussions, and in some regions, the laws are particularly stringent. Ontario, Canada, is one such place, as a young man recently discovered. He was reportedly heading to his own birthday party in his Ferrari 458 when police clocked him at 130 km/h (81 mph) in a 70 km/h (44 mph) zone. Before he realized it, his vehicle was headed for a tow.

In Ontario, the Highway Traffic Act enforces strict penalties for 'stunt driving,' mandating automatic consequences for those found guilty. In this instance, the alleged 'stunt' was driving 40 km/h (24.8 mph) above the limit in a zone of 80 km/h (49 mph) or lower. Consequently, the police were obligated to tow his car prior to any discussion.

      "But It’s My Birthday…”

The man’s response was far from mature: “Please, it’s my birthday,” he was heard pleading on camera. “I’m on my way to my birthday party. I haven’t driven the Ferrari in a while.”

Initially, during his interaction with the officer, the driver argued about the officer’s claim of his speed. After the officer presented the radar evidence confirming his speed, he implored the police not to take his car.

“I need my mother and father to come pick me up,” he admitted. Shortly after, we hear him seemingly speaking to one of them. “Mom, you have to come pick me up. The police pulled me over.”

The York police commented on their post regarding the incident from October 4, 2024, “Do you think this guy’s parents still let him have cake and open presents 🎂🎁? As this driver learned the hard way, there are #NoExcuses for Stunt Driving… even if it’s your birthday.” It’s worth noting that speeding is not the only offense covered under the stunt driving legislation.

Other offenses include donuts, drifting, burnouts, driving with someone in your trunk, and operating your vehicle without anyone in the driver’s seat. Importantly, anyone convicted of stunt driving faces fines beginning at $2,000 and incurs six demerit points on their license. The driver in this case faces a 30-day license suspension, according to CTV News.
