An exceptional Aston Martin duo, previously valued at $7.8 million, could be sold for almost half that amount during Monterey Car Week.

Aston Martin and Zagato produced only 19 pairs of the DBS GT and DB4 GT models.

The DB4 GT Continuation boasts a power output of 390 hp from its 4.7-liter straight-six engine.

The DBS GT is powered by a modified version of the Superleggera's twin-turbo V12 engine.

In 2019, Aston Martin collaborated with the renowned Italian design firm Zagato to develop an exclusive pairing of two remarkable models: the 1963 DB4 GT Zagato Continuation and the DBS GT Zagato. Only 19 sets were made, and they were not sold separately.

Buyers had to acquire both as a combined package for a significant £6.1 million, or about $7.8 million at that time. Despite the high price, every set sold swiftly, with most likely going into private collections. Now, one of these pairings is set to hit the market again.

      A Notable Decrease in Value

Next month, a rare chance will present itself during Monterey Car Week when Broad Arrow Auctions lists one of the original duos for sale. This includes both a DB4 GT Continuation and a DBS GT Zagato. Despite their exclusivity and stunning design, the estimated selling price is substantially lower than the original, ranging from $3.5 million to $4.5 million altogether.

The DB4 GT Zagato Continuation is coated in Caribbean Pearl and features hand-crafted 1.2 mm aluminum bodywork. This left-hand-drive model is powered by a 4.7-liter naturally aspirated straight-six engine that generates 390 horsepower and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Originally intended for track use, this particular car is registered in Florida and has only 63 miles (101 km) on the odometer, making it virtually new.

      Broad Arrow Auctions

Additionally, there's the matching DBS GT Zagato. Each of the 19 units produced is based on the DBS Superleggera, equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12. While the Superleggera is limited to 715 hp, the GT Zagato boasts 760 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque.

This vehicle features the same Caribbean Pearl finish as the DB4 GT, enhanced by a Dark Knight leather interior, silver anodized fender blades, centerlock wheels, and an exposed carbon fiber double-bubble roof.

      Potential for Collectibility, Reassessed

Those who invested in the Aston Martin x Zagato duo likely anticipated that they would become valuable collector's items; however, if the pre-auction estimates are accurate, that may not be the case. It seems the original price tag of $8 million was excessively high.

If you’re interested in adding these distinctive Astons to your garage, or at least admire the pictures, you can view the listing here. Just try to refrain from calculating the depreciation out loud.
