Ram's Raptor-Slaying TRX May Make a Comeback in 2026 | Carscoops
The Ram 1500 TRX could make a comeback in January with a revamped design and HEMI power.
Recent reports indicate that production for the Ram 1500 TRX is set to start early next year, positioning it above the 1500 RHO to compete against the Ford F-150 Raptor R. It is anticipated that this model will feature a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine generating a minimum of 702 hp.
Stellantis has recently reintroduced the V8-powered Ram 1500, which has received enthusiastic feedback, securing over 10,000 orders within the first 24 hours post-announcement.
The revival of the 1500 TRX could be on the horizon, potentially arriving sooner than expected. As per Mopar Insiders, a refreshed version of this high-performance truck is expected to enter production by late January 2026.
This model is anticipated to be the inaugural offering from the revamped SRT division, led by Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis. While few details are available at this time, the truck is projected to enhance the 1500 RHO's features and contend with the Ford F-150 Raptor R.
The original Ram 1500 TRX bid farewell in 2024 with a Final Edition priced at $117,625. This variant was equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. This setup allowed the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, reach a top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h), and complete the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph (174 km/h).
At that time, Ram claimed that the TRX was the “most powerful mass-produced pickup in its class,” having been “rigorously tested to withstand the harshest conditions with outstanding capability.” However, it is no longer the leader in this category, as the 2025 F-150 Raptor R features a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that outputs 720 hp (537 kW / 730 PS) and 640 lb-ft (867 Nm).
This gives Ford the advantage, but it is already known that the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 can generate even greater power. Specifically, in the 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, this engine was rated at 717 hp (535 kW / 727 PS) and 656 lb-ft (889 Nm). The Hellcat Redeye increased output to 797 hp (594 kW / 808 PS), while the SRT Super Stock reached 807 hp (602 kW / 818 PS).
