After all, the vast majority of us will never have the means to purchase a $3,000,000 Bugatti Tourbillon or a $5,000,000 Aston Martin Valkyrie. Nevertheless, these exotics are also remarkable demonstrations of cutting-edge engineering and meticulous attention to detail. A recent video uploaded to Bugatti’s YouTube channel showcases exactly that.

      Hosted by the insightful Mate Rimac, founder of Rimac and CEO of Bugatti, this video promises to be engaging from the start. Rimac is incredibly knowledgeable, yet remains approachable and humorous. In this episode of the Tourbillon series, Rimac delves into the fascinating engineering that powers this hypercar.

      Rimac discusses the drivetrain differences between the Chiron and the Tourbillon, detailing how the transmission that was previously located in front of the V16 engine is now positioned behind it, and how the front axle lacks a direct connection to the engine. He further explains that the engine is mounted at an angle rather than horizontally, which allows for a longer diffuser to be placed underneath the vehicle. This diffuser, in turn, increases downforce and eliminates the need for an unsightly fixed rear wing.

      Throughout the video, the Tourbillon is displayed in its bare form, with several segments featuring it in a wind tunnel alongside sketches and engineering diagrams. Viewers gain a deeper understanding of the car's key strengths, and Rimac’s insights certainly illuminate the immense effort that went into its creation.
