Audi's Battle Against Buttons Is Set to Extend to the A3 and S3 | Carscoops
An updated S3 has been spotted featuring an entirely new interior with larger displays and digital controls.
Spy photographers captured a prototype of the S3 showcasing this revamped cabin.
The interior aligns with the design of newer models and includes modern display elements.
We can anticipate an 11.9-inch digital cluster along with a 12.8- or 14.5-inch infotainment screen.
The 2025 Audi A3 and S3 underwent a mild facelift, introducing new bumpers, a redesigned grille, and updated lighting. Additionally, the company made some interior adjustments to refresh the ambience.
At that time, the company described the cabin as receiving a “significant upgrade” with a new center console and a redesigned shifter. New air vents, more stylish door panels, and a Sonos sound system were also introduced, along with extra features, resulting in a welcome transformation.

Now it seems another update is on the horizon. While the exterior of this S3 prototype appears standard, it conceals a completely new interior that is camouflaged.
Although the disguise obscures various details, we can discern an entirely new dashboard and a notably larger infotainment system, which has been repositioned to sit alongside the digital instrument cluster.
The configuration seems to resemble several recent models, including the A5 and Q3. Therefore, we can likely expect the digital instrument cluster to measure 11.9 inches, with the infotainment system being either 12.8 or 14.5 inches. This represents a substantial upgrade from the existing model, which features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen.
In addition to the new displays, we observe a modern steering wheel showcasing a minimalist four-ring logo. Importantly, it replaces physical buttons with digital controls. While this is a somewhat controversial choice, at least the model maintains traditional key controls unlike the Q3.
These changes are quite significant, especially considering the car was recently refreshed. However, it appears that the current model will remain in production for some time, prompting Audi to align its cabin more closely with the rest of its lineup.
