      In the garage, I find three types of flashlights particularly useful: a tough, slim one for reaching deep into engine bays, a flat one that can be magnetically attached to a car frame, and a headlamp to illuminate precisely where I’m looking.       Until we evolve to have real night vision, a headlamp will remain one of the most essential tools in your garage. I’ve installed four large LED tubes for overhead lighting in my workshop, and I still find that I need one of these because, let’s be honest—the overhead lights are not very helpful when you’re working under a car.
