The latest GL8 from Buick is a significant upgrade from the forgettable Terraza.

Buick has unveiled the refreshed GL8 Land Business Class in China, featuring a contemporary design and an enhanced interior with a new dashboard.

This minivan is equipped with VIP seats that include a damper to mitigate motion sickness.

Buick presents an extensive selection of minivans in China, and the updated GL8 Land Business Class is positioned as the entry-level model, starting at ¥229,900 ($32,073). Despite its economical pricing, this vehicle boasts numerous enhancements aimed at increasing comfort and luxury.

On the exterior, the vehicle showcases Buick's new Pure design philosophy, highlighted by an entirely new front end featuring sleek LED headlights and a spacious grille. Additional features include a power sliding door, rear privacy windows, a sunroof, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.

The interior upgrades are equally impressive, with a new dashboard incorporating dual 12.3-inch displays, a fresh steering wheel, and a redesigned center stack. The gear shifter has been relocated to the steering column, contributing to a sleeker and more modern aesthetic.

Additionally, the second-row VIP seats are designed for luxury, equipped with flip-up armrests, reclining backrests, and an “anti-sickness damper” to help alleviate motion sickness.

Other enhancements consist of an upgraded voice recognition system, a remote climate control feature, and larger side-curtain airbags that now extend over the entire window area. Noise levels inside the cabin have been reduced with the introduction of new double-layer acoustic glass and improved sound-dampening materials.

While Buick has not detailed all the specifications, the GL8 Land Business Class includes power front seats, rear climate controls, and an eight-speaker audio system. The cargo capacity varies from 18.4 cubic feet (521 liters) to 58.3 cubic feet (1,650 liters).

Crucially, several significant changes occur under the surface, as the GL8 features an entirely new rear suspension. The outdated torsion beam has been replaced with a modern four-link independent rear suspension, which is expected to provide a "significant evolution in driving comfort."

The powertrain consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 233 hp (174 kW / 237 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, allowing the minivan to go from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in a relaxed 9.2 seconds.
