The AirConsole is now available on various Audis equipped with Android-based infotainment.

Games offered include Uno Car Party! and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?

The platform operates on the main infotainment screen or the optional front passenger display.

For those who recall the days when turning a key and adjusting the radio represented a car’s full range of “tech features,” stepping inside modern interiors can feel like entering a budget spaceship's control room. In the last decade, we’ve reached a stage where dashboards are filled with screens, transforming the previously basic cabin into what resembles a mobile technology showcase.

This trend may not stand the test of time for a couple of reasons. First, advancing technology will inevitably make current hardware obsolete, and second, when things go wrong, repairs won't be inexpensive. Nonetheless, automakers are embracing a screen-heavy future, cramming in functions and entertainment options that would have seemed absurd not too long ago.

Audi has now entered the fray. Several new models featuring Android-based infotainment systems can access AirConsole. This built-in gaming platform offers various games playable on the central infotainment screen or the MMI passenger display available in some of Audi's latest vehicles.

The games on offer include Uno Car Party!, a unique version of Pictionary, and even Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? While Tesla was the pioneer in offering infotainment-based games, Audi’s AirConsole stands out because by scanning a QR code, passengers can utilize their smartphones as gaming controllers.

For models equipped with a passenger display, it's even possible to play while the vehicle is in motion, thanks to a dynamic privacy mode that shields the screen from the driver's view.

Owners can now download AirConsole through the Audi Application Store. However, it is currently exclusive to new Audi A5, Q5, A6, A6 e-tron, and Q6 e-tron models. The German manufacturer has not indicated if or when other models will gain access to the gaming service.

The AirConsole platform already boasts over 140 titles on its desktop version, including Overcooked, a cooperative kitchen simulator that has gained a worldwide following in recent years. It remains uncertain how many of these games might eventually be available on Audi’s in-car version, but expanding the library seems like a logical next step.
