Can This Pontiac Deceive You Into Believing It's a Lamborghini? | Carscoops
This modified Pontiac is listed for $18,500, which is more than a brand new Nissan Versa.
A 1986 Pontiac Fiero has been converted into a Lamborghini replica.
It features a supercharged V6 engine paired with an automatic transmission.
For many, owning a Lamborghini is the ultimate dream car. However, just like those who settle for imitation Ray-Bans or carry fake Louis Vuitton bags, there are some who are satisfied driving a budget-friendly replica of an exotic car. This Pontiac Fiero aims to fulfill that desire, but unlike many other replicas, it's not particularly inexpensive.
This specific Fiero is available for sale on Facebook Marketplace in Overland Park, Kansas. It was originally listed for $20,000, but the price has now been reduced to $18,500. If the seller can't find a buyer eager to drive a Lamborghini lookalike, we suspect the price may continue to drop. Unless, of course, the buyer happens to be in a parallel universe where Pontiac Fieros are regarded as exotic.
So, what exactly does your money buy, especially when it could easily purchase a brand-new Nissan Versa? The original Pontiac body panels have been replaced with ones designed to mimic a Lamborghini Diablo. However, this might be one of the least convincing Lamborghini replicas we've come across in some time. In fact, it hardly resembles a Diablo at all.
On the upside, the vehicle is coated in a striking pearlescent orange color that adds to its imitation exotic appeal. It also features scissor doors.
If you lift the engine cover, you'll find an upgraded stock V6 equipped with an aftermarket supercharger and a custom exhaust system. While the precise power output is unclear, we know it is coupled with GM’s 4T63-E automatic transmission. So, it should have some energy, but how much remains uncertain.
The interior of the Pontiac has received several upgrades, including a new Momo steering wheel, a digital rearview mirror, a double-DIN head unit, and a modified dashboard with new black leather.
The seller states that the car has been driven 79,000 miles (about 127,000 kilometers), which is fairly typical for a vehicle of this age. But the real question is; if you're in the market for a Lamborghini replica, would this Fiero meet your expectations? We’re not entirely convinced, but perhaps you're the kind of buyer who can't resist the notion of a fake Lamborghini… as long as it doesn't seem too fake. You can view the listing yourself right here.
