A Thief Attempted to Drive a Corvette Z06 Through a Window and Became Stuck Halfway | Carscoops

      A would-be thief learned at least one thing the Corvette Z06 isn't particularly good at.

      An alleged Corvette thief found himself stuck on a windowsill during a failed escape attempt from a dealership.

      Pictures capture the Z06 dangling halfway out of a broken window with its front wheels in the air.

      Police apprehended the suspect moments after the incident, preventing any successful getaway.

      The Chevrolet Corvette boasts numerous impressive qualities. It’s extremely fast, reasonably priced (for its class), and offers sufficient storage space for everyday use. More powerful versions are even better. However, one suspected car thief discovered a limitation of the Z06: apparently, it can't clear a metal window sill, and this misstep led police directly to him.

      It seems the thief accessed the building by using an e-scooter to break a window. Once inside, they located the keys to the Corvette, although it's uncertain whether they were already in the car or stored elsewhere. At that point, it seems they thought they could simply drive it out of the window like in a movie scene.

      Unlike in films, this incident concluded much more swiftly. The car only made it a few feet before being halted by the metal window sill. Once the front wheels crossed over, it appeared the vehicle couldn't proceed any further. Along with the TikTok clip from user @alexhoisnap below, there's also a video available on YouTube by PMTLA.       The specific Z06 has an asking price of $165,240 and is equipped with the Z06 Ultimate Performance Package, visible carbon fiber aerodynamic components, carbon fiber interior accents, and a front axle lifting system.

      Would the thief have managed to escape if they had used that feature? Probably not, but it would have been amusing to see. What will this Z06's value be now? It's hard to say, but it already has quite a story before even getting its first owner.

      In any event, it appears the suspect is already in custody. Corvette Blogger reports that USC public safety personnel apprehended the thief before the police arrived, and subsequently handed him over. Let this serve as a reminder to all: the ‘Vette is meant to stay firmly on the ground, unless explicitly designed not to.
