BMW Introduces a Unique Six-Cylinder Special Exclusively for Canada, but You Should Act Fast | Carscoops

      BMW's 540i Legacy Edition is exclusively available in Canada with only 151 units produced. This marks the first six-cylinder variant of the G60 sedan in Canada that lacks a plug.

      This limited-edition model comes with a distinctive selection of Individual Manufaktur colors.

      BMW has introduced a new version of its 5-Series, but this isn't a high-performance M model. Instead, it is a special variant of the 540i xDrive called the Legacy Edition, available solely for the Canadian market. With only 151 units to be made, potential buyers should visit a BMW dealership quickly to secure their purchase.

      The most attractive feature of the 540i xDrive Legacy Edition is its engine. It is the first current 5-Series model sold in Canada with six cylinders and without a plug-in hybrid option.

      It has a BMW 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that delivers 375 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque, supported by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the sporty sedan can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.7 seconds. Prior to this model, the only other six-cylinder option available was the 550 eDrive PHEV.

      For those desiring their Legacy Edition to be distinctive in the rare instance they encounter another at the golf club or shopping mall, they can opt for an Individual Manufaktur color at no extra cost.

      The vehicle featured in the images is finished in Maldives Black II Metallic, a nostalgic color inspired by the E34. This generation of the 5-Series was the first to carry the 540i emblem, known for being special. It introduced the regular 5-Series with a V8 engine and was also available with a six-speed manual transmission.

      Regarding the new G60, if teal is not appealing, there are other color choices, including Oxford Green Metallic, Black Blue non-metallic, Cinabar Red, Grigio Telesto Pearl Effect Metallic, Frozen Black, and Sepang Bronze Metallic.

      All models come equipped with standard 21-inch Individual wheels and the M Sport Pro Package. Customers may also select between red and blue M Sport brake calipers. Additional standard features include an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system and ventilated front seats.

      BMW has yet to announce pricing for this limited edition, but it's expected to start at over CA$100,000 (~$72,600). The order books are currently open, with deliveries anticipated in the fourth quarter of this year.
