Chevrolet’s latest Corvette ZR1X is expected to retail for around $250,000.
This amount can purchase genuine supercars as well as collectible models.
The new Corvette ZR1X is incredibly fast—truly remarkable. In fact, no factory-built ‘Vette intended for public roads has ever reached this level of capability. However, here’s a spoiler; no Corvette has ever been priced this high either. We don’t have the precise price yet, but a starting price of $250,000 seems very likely.

It’s also important to note that GM has labeled the ZR1X as a “true American hypercar.” Whether that assertion is valid is debatable, but the performance figures are certainly impressive. With 1,250 horsepower, a zero-to-60 mph acceleration time of under 2.0 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of less than 9.0 seconds, the statistics support the excitement.
If the pricing rumors are accurate, you’d be getting hypercar-level performance for the price of an entry-level supercar, packaged in something that appears far less glamorous. So here’s the critical question of the day: would you spend that much on a ‘Vette if given the opportunity?
Let’s briefly examine what $250,000 can actually buy in the new car market. Naturally, these prices are hypothetical, as dealers will likely impose markups on almost every vehicle listed here—unless GM decides to maintain some consistency, but we’re not exactly optimistic about that.
If you’re in the market for a single vehicle that offers stunning performance, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is certainly worth considering. While it may fall short of the Vette in nearly every performance metric and could very well be slower on most tracks, let’s set that aside for a moment.
This is a car that is decidedly well-regarded in the second-hand market. Many high-end Porsches appreciate in value, with most known for combining everyday usability with serious track capabilities. That could be tough to overlook in favor of a completely new and untested Corvette variant.
Buyers may also be drawn to something with a more glamorous brand. Vehicles like the Aston Martin DB12, McLaren Artura, Mercedes-Maybach SL-Class, and Ferrari Roma all fall within the $250,000-$275,000 range.
While none of these will keep pace with the ZR1X on the track, they will undoubtedly attract attention in ways that a Corvette might not. That said, it’s worth contemplating what one could acquire if they spent their funds on more than a single vehicle. A Corvette ZR1 starts at $175,000, leaving an extra $75,000 to play with.
If a buyer chooses to enhance beyond the base ZR1X, they might still have sufficient budget to have a ZR1 alongside a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. To me, that would be the ideal garage arrangement. So, what’s your choice? ZR1X or something else? Share your vote and thoughts in the comments below!
