The new Defender Trophy Edition features nostalgic paint choices and off-road accessories, reminiscent of competition-tested Land Rovers.
Land Rover has unveiled a new off-road-inspired Defender model, known as the Trophy Edition.
Available in yellow or green, the Defender 110s pay homage to the iconic Camel Trophy Land Rovers.
The optional accessory package includes items such as a roof rack, ladders, panniers, mud flaps, and a snorkel.
Land Rover is drawing on its adventure motorsport heritage with this Defender, which is inspired by the brand’s renowned Camel Trophy SUVs, set to be globally unveiled at July’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Named the Defender 110 Trophy Edition, this model does not reference the Camel cigarette brand that sponsored the original competition from 1980 to 2000, but its influence is evident, especially in the Deep Sandglow Yellow finish.
Alternatively, buyers can opt for Keswick Green; however, both versions come with a gloss black treatment on the hood, wheel arches, and lower body that would likely be damaged within minutes on a typical Camel Trophy course. Those intending to navigate the urban landscape may find it wise to invest in the optional matte protective film.
Additional features of the Defender Trophy include Gloss Black 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, dark scuff plates at the front and rear, and Trophy decals on the hood and C-pillar. The interior boasts illuminated sill kick plates branded with Trophy, Ebony Windsor Leather seats, and an exposed dashboard beam finished in the same color as the exterior paint choice.
For those wishing to capture the essence of the original Camel racers, the Trophy Edition Accessory Pack can be added for £4,995 ($6,700) on top of the base price of £89,810 ($120,000). This package includes a roof rack, roof ladder, side-mounted panniers, mud flaps, and a snorkel for the induction system. While it may not be necessary, the enhanced appearance is a compelling reason to consider it.
To view the Trophy Edition in person this summer, attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, where it will be on display and making runs up Lord March’s famous driveway.
Land Rover, which produced a limited number of Trophy-inspired original Defenders last year at nearly £200k ($270k) each, has previously offered Trophy versions of the modern Defender but limited to North America and only a few hundred units. The new Trophy Edition is a full production model, available in various markets.
