This Porsche 911 Dakar features a $14,750 Paint to Sample finish in Granite Green Metallic.
It is powered by a six-cylinder engine delivering 473 hp and 420 lb-ft, similar to the Carrera 4 GTS.
The winning bidder had previously purchased another Porsche 911 Dakar for $365,000 last year.
Limited-production performance vehicles often miss out on spirited weekend drives and head straight to auctions. Contrary to hopes from manufacturers, many premium models find their way into the hands of collectors instead of long-term enthusiasts. Porsche's special-edition 911s are no exception, with the latest being this 2024 911 Dakar, which changed ownership after only 909 miles (1,463 km) on the odometer.

The production of the 911 Dakar was limited to just 2,500 units globally, and this particular car is finished in Granite Green Metallic from the Paint to Sample program, costing an impressive $14,750. It also includes $900 gloss black brake calipers, unique $330 puddle lights, and a $3,650 deviated stitching interior package, bringing the grand total to $243,280. Earlier this week, it fetched $348,500 on Bring a Trailer.
A 911 Designed for Off-Road, Tucked Away in a Climate-Controlled Garage
Evidently, affluent buyers are eager to acquire these special, off-road-oriented versions of the 911. This model is based on the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, and while it shares the same powertrain offering 473 hp and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm), Porsche made several key mechanical enhancements. Notably, it features a custom suspension and a hydraulic lift system, along with new 19- and 20-inch wheels fitted with Pirelli tires.
Unlike many other 911 Dakars, this one doesn’t come with extravagant decals, which enhances its overall appearance. It also retains the original roof rack, complete with two LED light bars, off-road recovery boards, a Porsche-branded shovel, and a pair of jerry cans, making it well-prepared for various adventures. However, like most 911 Dakars, it is likely to be driven primarily in urban settings without ever encountering a dusty or muddy trail.
Familiar Bidding Patterns
Interestingly, this is actually the second 911 Dakar that the winning bidder has acquired on Bring a Trailer. In February, they bought a 911 Dakar in Yachting Blue for $365,000. Furthermore, they attempted to sell a Shade Green Metallic version in October 2023, but that bid reached only $355,000 without concluding a sale.
Thus, while Porsche may wish for its rally-inspired 911s to be utilized as intended, the reality is that many of these vehicles are leading quieter existences, frequently changing owners at auctions, accumulating only modest mileage, and serving more as financial assets than true off-road vehicles.
