Forget the tariffs, which imported car offers the best value for your money? | Carscoops

Prices are anticipated to increase for most cars in America, though some may still be worth the hike.

New vehicle prices are expected to rise across nearly the entire industry in the U.S., driven by tariffs.

While many cars may lack excitement in driving, some could still be justifiable at their increased prices.

Tariffs have made a strong impact, with some even calling them significant. Almost every car's price is set to increase, as a 25% tariff on imported new vehicles is accompanied by plans to extend the same tariff to imported car parts. This isn’t exactly unexpected.

Ferrari has already raised its prices by 10%. While their affluent customers might not flinch, those of us without exclusive invites to VIP events in Maranello may reconsider a new car purchase. Nonetheless, there are plenty of cars that justify the expense, even amidst uncertainty. Today, we invite you to share which ones you believe are worth it. But first, let us provide a few recommendations.

Consider the BMW M3, for instance. It's an exceptional car, despite its not-so-appealing grin (seriously, those kidney grilles). It's quick, fairly comfortable, and highly capable for daily driving. This combination of performance and practicality could make the tariff increase a bit easier to accept.

There are other commendable options as well. Take the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, for example—it contains only around 1% American components. The same goes for the Ioniq 6. Yet, despite their limited domestic ties, both are outstanding vehicles that exceed expectations.

If you’re interested in a sports car, be aware that models like the Nissan Z and Mazda MX-5 are fully imported. So, price increases are anticipated there as well. At least for now, there are still some excellent deals available on the Z, but those may not last long.

In my opinion, anything sporting an RS badge from Audi or a 911 GT3 from Porsche would be worth the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). While dealers are unlikely to sell them at that price, I still believe they are worth the investment.

For instance, the RS3 is a fantastic daily driver with plenty of power and a very engaging driving experience. The RS6 Avant offers an excellent blend of fun and practicality in wagon form. As for Porsche, it’s tough to contest just how remarkable the GT3 is. Yes, it's very pricey, and tariffs won't make it any cheaper, but it's essentially an instant classic.
