Ohio Man Gets Back at Driver Who Damaged His Truck Two Years Prior | Carscoops
A 64-year-old man has been arrested for vandalizing a woman's property as retaliation for a collision involving his truck that occurred nearly two years ago.
The individual was recorded on surveillance footage spray painting the victim's house and damaging a vehicle outside. He later admitted to law enforcement that the accident motivated his actions.
While accidents are common, one man from Ohio couldn't seem to move on from a crash. Instead, he allegedly defaced the other driver’s property almost two years after the incident.
This unusual situation began on August 21, 2023, when Michael Dietz was halted at an intersection in his 1996 Chevrolet truck. As per a police report we retrieved, he was hit from behind by a 2020 Kia Telluride driven by Marette Winchester, who received a citation for the incident, which should have concluded the matter.
However, Dietz reportedly harbored resentment and sought revenge against Winchester. According to the Westlake Police, Cleveland19 reported that authorities received a call last Thursday morning regarding a house that had been vandalized with graffiti. Upon their investigation, they believed the suspect had also attempted to pour sugar into a vehicle's gas tank parked in the driveway.
The incident was captured on video, and the victim recognized the attacker. It was revealed to be Dietz, who confessed to the police.
When questioned about his actions, Dietz stated he "sprayed **** on her house" because he referred to her in a derogatory manner. He also admitted to trying to put sugar in the gas tank and chillingly claimed the woman was fortunate that he didn’t arrive with a gun to "start shooting the place up."
Though Winchester is not named in the article or video, the timeline of the accident aligns with Dietz’s actions. Authorities noted that he was distressed over "ongoing court actions and medical issues stemming from the accident."
Cleveland19 reported that Dietz has been apprehended and faces charges of felony vandalism and misdemeanor aggravated menacing. Additional charges may follow, and the felony vandalism charge could result in considerable jail time depending on the damage costs.
