Subaru experienced its strongest month on record, selling 71,478 vehicles last month. This surpasses the previous high of 70,039 units set in August 2019.
The Forester was the top seller last month, with Outback sales rising by 29.9%.
The Solterra, unfortunately, was perceived as an underwhelming electric vehicle with a high price tag; however, the company rectified this with a $6,500 reduction for 2025.
Consumers seem to have taken notice, as Solterra sales rose by 158.7% in March, although the total was still modest, with only 1,154 units sold in the U.S. last month.
In terms of sales, the Forester unsurprisingly retained its status as Subaru's best-seller. The recently updated crossover saw a 7.3% increase, totaling 22,570 units sold.
Next was the Crosstrek, which achieved its best March ever, with 18,169 units sold, reflecting a 25.1% rise. The long-standing Outback also defied expectations, being taken home by 17,539 customers.
Interestingly, despite its impending discontinuation, the Legacy enjoyed a sales increase of 53.2%, ending its run on a high note as production is expected to conclude this spring.
The only models that faced declines last month were the older Accent and WRX. The Accent dropped by 11.4% to 4,584 units, while the WRX saw a 16.2% decrease, totaling 1,539 units sold.
It's also worth noting the BRZ; while its sales increased by 22.3%, it still only resulted in 334 units sold, which is unfortunate as affordable sports cars deserve recognition.
For the month, Subaru of America sold 71,478 vehicles, marking a 16.6% increase compared to March 2024. This again set a new record, surpassing the previous high of 70,039 units achieved in August 2019.
First quarter sales rose by 9.1%, totaling 166,957 units. Subaru of America's Senior Vice President of Sales, Troy Poston, attributed these impressive outcomes to excellent service, safety, and reliability.
