Package Offer: 1996 Daytona 24 Winning Oldsmobile Race Car and Accompanying Support Truck Now Available for Purchase
eBay
Are you interested in historic racing with champion cars from the '90s but unsure how to start? A "complete race package" featuring two race cars—one of which is a Daytona 24 winner—is available on eBay. Purchase it, and you’ll already be a winner on the starting grid.
With a current price of $675,000, this isn’t for the faint-hearted. However, once you recognize that this collection is a genuine championship lineup, feel free to negotiate, but the owner knows the true value of what they have.
This offering includes race cars, a support hauler, and "numerous spare parts," all consigned by Motorcar Market, a specialist in high-end exotic and classic car sales. Typically, this team handles individual vehicles or small collections, but when the owner of this race team bundle contacted them, the opportunity was too good to pass up.
“This is one of the most significant collections we’ve represented,” a company representative told The Drive during a phone call. “Most race cars, whether historic or not, end up broken down, stripped for parts, or sold as scrap. This collection, however, has remained intact for all these years — it's like the band never broke up.”
One of the cars is a completely restored Brix Racing Oldsmobile Aurora race car built by Rocketsports. This heavily modified vehicle originally featured a 4.0-liter quad-cam V8 engine producing over 650 horsepower. Now optimized for historic racing, it has been upgraded with a more powerful Chevrolet SB2 small-block racing V8 (approximately 850 hp) to ensure better parts availability.
Adorned in a black, white, and yellow paint scheme, the #5 race car secured the GTS-1 class victory at the 1996 24 Hours of Daytona, driven by Scott Sharp, Jim Pace, and the now-legendary team owner Wayne Taylor. The Aurora GTS-1 went on to win four additional times throughout its racing career, including at the 1997 12 Hours of Sebring. In its second life as a historic racer, it triumphed multiple times at both the Classic Daytona 24 and the Classic 12 Hours of Sebring.
The second vehicle also has a competitive background, having achieved victories early in its career but was sidelined after a 1996 IMSA rule change that prohibited transaxles. As the team transitioned to a solid axle car, this former podium contender remained idle. The listing reveals that this vehicle is a "rolling chassis." Its independent rear suspension is still intact and configured for a Chevy SB2. While most parts needed to complete the race car are included, you will still require wiring, a data acquisition system, and an engine.
The final vehicle in this lineup is the large transporter. The Freightliner FL112 Toterhome by Renegade functions as a towing motorhome with a liftgate trailer. These RV haulers can individually fetch prices in the low six figures, depending on specifications and condition.

This collection has changed ownership multiple times, making it remarkable that the complete set remains together. The current owner listed the collection for sale late last year and is reported to have invested a “considerable amount” into it, with the sale price being only a fraction of that investment. The Aurora GTS-1 last competed in a historic race in 2022 at Daytona.
These vehicles are not intended to be museum pieces—though that decision rests with the next owner—they can still perform on race day. All the buyer needs is a crew, which Motorcar Market can assist with as well.
