A 2026 Tesla Model Y Juniper has already been involved in a crash after just 197 miles. | Carscoops
This recently delivered Tesla Model Y had only 197 miles on the odometer when it was involved in a crash 7 hours ago.
The impact has caused one of the front wheels of the Model Y to detach completely.
While the exterior has certainly seen better days, the Launch Edition still powers on.
This incident appears to be one of the first wrecked 2026 Model Y Junipers in the United States.
The U.S. deliveries of the updated Tesla Model Y ‘Juniper’ in Launch Edition trim began earlier this month, and already, one has met an unfortunate fate in a collision. It remains unclear if the driver of this specific Model Y caused the situation it now finds itself in, but attempting a rescue seems futile. It might be more beneficial as a parts donor.
The electric vehicle is currently listed for sale at Copart’s facility in Houston, Texas, which indicates it may never have been far from its origin in the Lone Star State. The driver's side of the Model Y remains clean, unlike the passenger side, which is in complete disarray.
Severe Damage
One of the front wheels of the Tesla has been ripped off, along with the hub, brake caliper, and brake disc, leaving only some suspension arms. The front quarter panel is heavily damaged, covered in deep dents and scratches. Additionally, the front door and wing mirror have also been ruined.
Listings like this typically do not disclose how a vehicle ended up in such poor condition, but it is reasonable to assume this Model Y sustained a significant hit since losing a wheel and hub this way is not common in a minor collision. Interestingly, the impact does not seem to have deployed any of the Model Y’s airbags, which is quite puzzling.
On a positive note, the cabin seems to be in fair condition, although it would benefit from a thorough cleaning. The car’s infotainment screen shows it has just 197 miles (317 km) on it and is equipped with Full Self-Driving, a feature standard on all Launch Edition trims.
The listing also indicates that the EV is still operational, suggesting that the battery pack and electric motors may have survived the crash relatively intact.
So, if you had the funds to acquire this damaged Model Y, would you attempt to repair it and return it to the road, or would you disassemble it for parts and profit from the more valuable components? And just for fun, how much do you think it’s worth in its current condition—considering the original MSRP was $59,990?
