A car enthusiast received a citation and several letters from his homeowners association.
Since then, he has been steadily escalating his response by pushing the HOA’s rules. Now, he is campaigning for HOA president while continuing to provoke the organization.
Homeowners associations (HOAs) are meant to keep neighborhoods looking orderly and maintain property values, but they often operate in a manner that prioritizes asserting authority over preserving community charm. Recently, a small group of content creators in Georgia became acutely aware of this dynamic.
After their HOA voiced concerns about one of their vehicles being parked on the grass, the group chose to react—not by relocating the car, but by playfully mocking the HOA in three inventive ways.
It’s important to clarify that this wasn’t a case of a car parked completely on the front lawn as if it were setting up a used car dealership. The problem was that the car's tires were slightly crossing the grass line by about six inches. That small violation was enough to provoke the HOA's frustration. However, the complaints didn’t end there.
To complicate the situation further, the HOA also took issue with one of the group’s body-swapped car projects, declaring it “inoperable” and asserting that it had flat tires. Unsurprisingly, the team at Prodigy TV was not pleased about being fined for such a minor issue and the misrepresentation of their car's condition.
Not Quite “Inoperable”
More significantly, they were even more frustrated by the “inoperable” label since the car was functioning perfectly. Additionally, it didn’t have flat tires; rather, it was merely leaning to one side due to its hydraulic actuators. To poke some fun at the HOA, the team decided to take a few measures.
First, they recorded a video of the “inoperable” car driving down the road, showcasing its capabilities while the hydraulics were in action. Not only did the entire neighborhood get to see it cruising, but the owner also shared the video on the HOA's Facebook page. To add to the jest, they ended it with a vanity plate that gave a not-so-discreet dig at the HOA.
Taking Things Up a Notch
However, the story doesn’t conclude with a witty license plate. The team then began attaching eccentric-looking modifications that fit within the HOA bylaws. This included a monster-truck-style Smart car, an Amish buggy with an inflatable horse, and a Lincoln limousine added to the mix.
At this point, the homeowner determined that the best approach was to challenge the issue from within. He is now preparing to run for HOA president, with the goal of reversing some of the excessive regulations that triggered this entire situation in the first place.
In fact, in their latest video, the HOA president allegedly called the police on them, but this backfired. Since the HOA doesn’t own the roads, it has no authority over what homeowners can do. Consequently, rather than being restricted to parking only in the carport, this homeowner is now free to park whatever he pleases on the street.
