Ferrari's Initial Electric Vehicle Caught on Camera While Charging | Carscoops

Ferrari's first electric vehicle is set to officially debut during an investor event on October 9 of this year.

Recently, the vehicle was seen at an Ionity charging station in Europe. The test mule seems to be derived from either the Levante or Purosangue, hinting that it may be a crossover. It features a CCS charging port, staggered wheels, and potentially a charge status indicator.

As of March 10, we have observed another test mule for Ferrari's upcoming electric car, which is anticipated to be among the brand’s first new models since the introduction of the F80 halo hypercar last October. This vehicle was photographed while undergoing winter testing in Northern Europe.

Under unusual circumstances, Ferrari is preparing to present its first electric vehicle on October 9 at its Capital Markets Day event, with a mule recently observed charging next to a Volvo FH. While an unusual pairing, both vehicles are premium EVs.

Setting aside the oddity, the test mule appears to draw inspiration from Ferrari's Purosangue or Maserati’s Levante SUV, implying that the production model will be a hatchback-style crossover.

Although the vehicle's design shouldn’t be taken too literally, the pronounced fender flares indicate a broad track. Spy photographers have also noted that the mule features staggered wheels, measuring 23 inches at the front and 24 inches at the rear.

Another notable element is the roof-mounted shark fin ‘antenna,’ which appears black but occasionally emits flashes of green or red. This may suggest a charging status indicator, although that remains speculative.

Photographers also pointed out that the door handles are merely for show, with the doors opened by a button instead. Additionally, a Combined Charging System (CCS) port is visible, along with a peek at the cargo area.

Ferrari has not shared many details about the forthcoming model, but the company has partnered with battery supplier SK On and inaugurated their e-building last summer. This facility is set to produce the upcoming EV as well as models featuring hybrid and internal combustion engines. During this announcement, the automaker hinted at new electric motors that would deliver the signature driving excitement Ferrari is known for.
