Frankenstein creation or pure genius? You decide on this 1994 Taurus SHO pickup build.

This 1994 Taurus SHO has been creatively modified into an unusual hybrid featuring a Ranger bed.

      It boasts a 3.0-liter V6 producing 220 hp and 220 lb-ft, coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission.

With an odometer reading of 139,000 miles, it is currently available for sale at a fair price.

What do you get when you combine a second-generation Ford Taurus SHO with a Ranger pickup? The result is a peculiar yet intriguing vehicle that we recently discovered in Beloit, Kansas. The mix might not seem logical, but it certainly has its charm. In fact, aside from a Ranger Raptor or an F-150 Raptor, it's hard to find a cooler Ford pickup than this one.

During its peak, the Taurus SHO was one of Ford’s standout high-performance sedans. At some point, someone had the audacious (or crazy) idea to cut off the back half of the body and replace it with the bed from a 1994 Ranger Splash, effectively creating America’s unofficial version of classic Australian utes like the Holden Commodore or Ford’s Falcon.

The peculiar pickup is currently advertised on Facebook Marketplace, although the listing provides minimal details. What is clear is that significant cutting and welding were involved in attaching the Ranger bed to the Taurus. This kind of garage creativity would catch the eye of even the most experienced car enthusiasts.

The 1994 Taurus SHO pickup retains its original Yamaha-built 3.0-liter V6 engine, delivering 220 horsepower and 220 lb-ft (292 Nm) of peak torque when it was new. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission that powers the front wheels.

The interior appears mostly untouched, with the seats and dashboard in surprisingly good condition. It has 139,000 miles (223,000 km) on it, and the current asking price is $5,000, which seems fair given its uniqueness. Interestingly, this unusual vehicle was previously listed for $7,500 in late 2019, so it could be a great deal now.

If you’re a fan of oddities or seeking an unconventional project, take a look at the full listing on Facebook Marketplace here. Just be prepared to explain it to your neighbors.

Correction: The original article mistakenly stated that the Taurus SHO came with an automatic transmission when it is actually a manual.
