Volvo EX60 SUV Surprises With Its Unveiling | Carscoops
The forthcoming compact electric crossover was hinted at during Volvo's ES90 presentation, which took place six hours ago.
Volvo provided a sneak peek of the new EX60 crossover, set to debut next year.
It will utilize the new SPA3 platform, designed to ultimately support all future Volvo models.
The XC60 recently underwent a facelift, featuring design modifications and an updated infotainment system.
After a wave of prominent leaks, Volvo officially revealed the ES90 mid-size sedan earlier today. However, many might not have seen the live stream of the unveiling from Stockholm, Sweden.
Had they tuned in, they would have noticed a brief teaser for the upcoming EX60, which will be the electric counterpart to the well-liked gasoline-powered XC60. This teaser appears approximately 25 minutes into the video, where a woman opens a door to show a partially covered clay model. She quickly shuts the door, but not before exposing a rear design reminiscent of the EX90.

While details are scarce, the electric luxury crossover features angular upper taillights flanking the rear window, transitioning at the window's base to the outer edges of the vehicle.
In addition to the taillights, we can observe well-defined rear haunches and a recessed liftgate, accompanied by a black rear bumper that includes a horizontal chrome accent.
Volvo did not provide any specifics about the crossover, though it was briefly referenced during their 2024 financial presentation. The company stated that the first test vehicle for the EX60 has been constructed and driven, and mentioned that the vehicle will be built on the new SPA3 platform, which is expected to launch on schedule with a substantial cost reduction.
They indicated that the SPA3 platform will be introduced soon and will serve as a scalable architecture for all subsequent Volvos. While we anticipate more information in the next few months, the EX60 is not expected to be released until next year.
Given the new platform, it is premature to discuss exact specifications; however, since the EX60 is an enhanced iteration of the SPA2 platform, it may share some components with the EX90 and ES90 models.
