Introducing the 2025 Citroen C5 Aircross | Carscoops
The compact crossover segment is increasing in size and adapting to the transition towards electrification.
The 2025 C5 Aircross has appeared in patent images ahead of its official unveiling later this year.
The production version closely resembles the concept but replaces the flush-mounted door handles with traditional ones.
Built on the STLA Medium platform, it will offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric variants.
Citroen introduced the C5 Aircross concept last fall, and we are now getting our first look at the forthcoming production model. These patent images show that the production version follows the concept's design but is somewhat more refined.
This is particularly noticeable at the front, where the model features a subtly updated bumper with a centrally located intake. Designers have modified the ribbed details while keeping the lower intake largely true to the original design.
While the side profile showcases larger side mirrors, it's surprising to see how many of the concept's unique features have been preserved. Notably, there are protruding taillight 'tips' on the D-pillar and wing-like accents on the front doors, although the door handles have been replaced with more conventional designs.
Apart from the striking taillights, the rear end appears rather simplistic. Nonetheless, it includes a revised bumper, a wraparound spoiler, and a new lower section for the reflectors.
The production model will be built on the STLA Medium platform and will measure about 183.1 inches (4,650 mm) in length, making the 2025 C5 Aircross approximately 5.9 inches (150 mm) longer than its predecessor.
Citroen has been reserved about details but has previously indicated that the model will be available with combustion, hybrid, and electric powertrains. This implies that powertrain options might be shared with the Opel Grandland and Peugeot 3008 and 5008.
For the 5008, customers can choose a hybrid variant with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine or a plug-in hybrid that features a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. Additionally, there are two fully electric versions equipped with 73 or 97 kWh battery packs. The company is also preparing to launch a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant with a combined output of 321 hp (239 kW / 325 PS).
