The Ford Ranger Super Duty achieves an increase of over 2,000 lbs in towing capacity.

Recently, the 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty was spotted being tested in cold weather conditions in Europe.

This model is a reinforced version of the Ranger, featuring enhanced towing and hauling abilities. Production is set to take place in Thailand, and it will be made available in various markets.

Ford teased the Ranger Super Duty last fall and is preparing for its launch next year, with a prototype recently seen undergoing testing in Northern Europe.

Resembling a rugged beast, the Super Duty prototype resembles the standard Ranger but is fitted with a snorkel and a distinct bed. The truck also seems to have a modified front bumper and grille.

While details are limited, we can anticipate a strengthened frame and heavy-duty axles. Ford has hinted at an eight-lug setup paired with 18-inch wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Ranger Super Duty Engineering Program Supervisor, Drew O’Shannassy, noted, “The eight-stud configuration offers a significant advantage in terms of load capacity and ensures weight distribution is balanced across the wheel.” He added that the wheel and tire combination will deliver a “great mix of strength, grip, and reliability that our hardworking customers require.”

Ford has not revealed too many specifics, but it has mentioned that the Ranger Super Duty will be capable of “doing things no other mid-size truck can do.” Notably, it will boast a towing capacity of 9,921 lbs (4,500 kg), a considerable enhancement over the current capacity of 7,716 lbs (3,500 kg).

Customers can also anticipate a Gross Vehicle Mass of 9,921 lbs (4,500 kg) and a Gross Combined Mass of 17,637 lbs (8,000 kg), allowing owners to haul and carry more with their trucks.

While Ford has remained somewhat vague regarding additional details, the Ranger Super Duty might feature the Raptor’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which produces 392 hp (292 kW / 397 PS) and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm) of torque in Australia.

More information is expected in the coming months, but the Ranger Super Duty is being developed by Ford’s International Markets Group and will be manufactured in Thailand, with availability anticipated in “markets around the world,” primarily in Asia, Africa, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
