Leaked footage offers a sneak peek at the Audi A6 Avant in its S-Line version.
This model is expected to be built on PPC underpinnings, featuring both gasoline and diesel engine options.
Audi has teased the forthcoming 2026 A6 Avant, generating excitement ahead of its official unveiling on March 4. While the teaser image does not disclose much, leaked videos available online indicate that the new A6 will closely resemble the smaller A5.
Initially, Audi considered renaming the successor to the traditional A6 with an internal combustion engine as the A7, to differentiate it from the fully electric A6 e-tron. However, the automaker has revised its naming strategy, allowing the new vehicle to keep the well-known A6 designation.
The A6 Avant will be the first variant to be launched, with the classic four-door sedan anticipated to follow soon after. The teaser suggests a stylish wagon profile and showcases a new lighting design, which includes a full-width LED strip at the rear.
Although the full reveal is still a week away, two brief clips shared by KondorCars on YouTube seem to show the Audi A6 Avant completely unveiled. These videos, uploaded last week, appear quite similar to the teaser, suggesting their authenticity.
The vehicle shown in the clips is an Audi A6 Quattro with the S-Line package, identifiable by its sporty bumpers, large wheels, and black badging. The front design is reminiscent of the Audi A5, although a closer inspection reveals a noticeably taller grille. The headlights feature a slightly sharper design, drawing parallels with the outgoing RS6 and the A7 Sportback.
The profile of the vehicle appears more modern and muscular than its predecessor, thanks to its defined rear shoulders and flush door handles. The rear design also contributes to a sportier stance, characterized by a steeper angle on the rear glass and an extended rear overhang.
In addition to the standard A6 Sedan and A6 Avant, our spy photographers have also captured camouflaged prototypes of the A6 Allroad and the top-of-the-line RS6.
The Audi A6 is anticipated to utilize the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture, an updated iteration of the MLB Evo (Modular Longitudinal Matrix) platform. The powertrain range is likely to feature gasoline and diesel options, complemented by a mild-hybrid system. As for the RS6, recent reports indicate that it will replace the V8 engine with a plug-in hybrid V6 setup, delivering an output that rivals the M5 at 725 hp.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner remarked: “With the A6, we are now renewing an important model series.” He further stated: “We are embarking on the next chapter in our Avant history. The new Audi A6 combines elegant and dynamic design with exceptional aerodynamics. Efficient yet high-performance powertrains and advanced suspension technology bring together sportiness with a high level of comfort, making travel in the A6 a first-class experience.”
All information regarding the new Audi A6 Avant will be disclosed during its world premiere on March 4, where it will face direct competition from the BMW 5-Series Touring and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate.
