As the launch of the 1500 Ramcharger approaches, Ram has updated its specifications.
The power output has decreased to 654 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a slightly longer 0-60 mph time.
The range remains at 690 miles, but the truck now features improved DC fast charging technology.
Initially unveiled nearly 16 months ago, the 1500 Ramcharger is finally getting closer to its release. Recently, a media briefing was conducted where the company shared further insights into the range-extended pickup.
However, there is some disappointing news, as the truck is now slightly less impressive than initially stated. In addition to being pushed to the 2026 model year, the Ramcharger's dual-motor all-wheel drive system has seen its output reduced from 663 hp (494 kW / 672 PS) to 654 hp (488 kW / 663 PS). While the torque remains at 615 lb-ft (833 Nm), the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time has increased from 4.4 seconds to 4.5 seconds.
Despite the decrease in performance, some features have improved. Notably, the DC fast charging capability has increased from 145 kW to 175 kW. Nonetheless, Ram maintains that owners can expect around 50 miles (80 km) of range in approximately 10 minutes.
This summarizes the major changes. It’s worth noting that the Ramcharger comes with a 92 kWh battery pack and a 3.6-liter V6 engine that functions as a generator. This setup is designed to achieve a targeted range of up to 690 miles (1,110 km), surpassing traditional electric vehicles.
Even though it is electric, the Ramcharger is built to be work-ready, relying on its robust STLA Frame platform. This enables the truck to tow up to 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg) and support a payload capacity of up to 2,625 lbs (1,191 kg). Contractors will also appreciate the bed-mounted onboard power panel capable of providing up to 7.2 kW of power on job sites.
In addition to a few specification updates, Ram released a new video demonstrating charging information on the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside the 12- or 14.5-inch infotainment system. The automaker also showcased new images of powertrain components, charge scheduling, driving history, and vehicle-to-home functionality.
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger is expected to arrive in the latter half of the year, followed by the fully electric 1500 REV in 2026.
