New F-Series trucks come with a complimentary one-year subscription to the Ford Security Package.

Once the initial subscription expires, owners will need to pay $7.99 monthly.

The FordPass app allows remote disabling of the ignition, aimed at curbing theft.

Ford is focused on enhancing vehicle security and is now equipping the widely-used F-Series trucks with a monthly Ford Security Package that offers owners reimbursement of up to $2,500 if their truck is stolen.

Although it may seem like issuing $2,500 checks to F-Series owners for stolen vehicles could invite fraud, the situation is more nuanced. For vehicles that feature the Ford Security Package, Ford will cover insurance deductibles up to $2,500 in the event of theft, but compensation will be granted only if the vehicle remains unrecovered or is recovered damaged.

This package has been rolled out across the F-150 lineup and some Super Duty trims. Eligible models include a one-year complimentary subscription to the Ford Security Package, which will then transition to a $7.99 monthly fee.

The potential for insurance deductible reimbursement isn’t the only appeal for buyers. The program also offers theft and tampering alerts directly to the owner's phone, along with a feature called Start Inhibit. This capability, accessible via the FordPass app, lets owners remotely disable the ignition, even if a thief has the key. Additionally, the package provides a 24/7 hotline for agents to assist law enforcement in locating stolen vehicles.

"Thieves are employing increasingly sophisticated tactics to steal cars, making it essential for our system to implement physical, electronic, and communication-based hurdles to thwart them,” stated Christian Moran, Ford’s general manager of Safety and Security Services, in an interview with the Detroit Free Press. “If the unfortunate event of theft occurs, we’ll support you with insurance deductible reimbursement to rectify the situation.”

Ford's portfolio of safety systems will become available in more models moving forward, though the timeline for this expansion is not yet clear.
