Volkswagen has revealed the prices for the 2025 Golf GTI and Golf R models.
The GTI starts at $32,445 and comes with updated styling both inside and out.
The Golf R, priced at $47,100, features a more powerful engine producing 328 hp.
Volkswagen presented the refreshed Golf GTI and Golf R last year, and they are finally arriving in the U.S. These models come with numerous upgrades and increased prices.
Beginning with the Golf GTI, it starts at $32,445, which is $480 more than the previous version. This minor increase brings a redesigned front bumper, renewed headlights, and a refreshed color range that now includes Alpine Silver Metallic and Slate Blue Metallic. Additionally, buyers will find a light bar, an illuminated Volkswagen logo, an adaptive front lighting system, and 18-inch alloy wheels equipped with all-season tires.

The updates continue inside, featuring Carbon Gray trim and a new 12.9-inch infotainment system that is faster and easier to navigate. This is complemented by physical buttons on the steering wheel, a 15-watt wireless smartphone charger, and an AI-powered voice assistant. Other notable features include GPS navigation and a range of IQ.Drive assistance technologies.
The mid-tier Golf GTI SE starts at $37,420 and showcases a subtly revised exterior, including automatic high beam headlights and 18-inch R-design alloy wheels. It also includes a sunroof, a keyless entry system, and a harman/kardon premium audio setup. The interior boasts Clubsport ArtVelours upholstery, with leather seats available through a $1,300 package.
The top-tier Golf GTI Autobahn begins at $40,880 and offers adaptive damping along with larger 19-inch wheels fitted with summer tires. Its upgraded interior features heated and ventilated leather front seats, heated rear seats, and a tri-zone climate control system. Additionally, it includes a head-up display and Park Assist Plus.
Regardless of the chosen trim, all GTIs are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 241 hp (180 kW / 244 PS). Although the power output remains the same, the six-speed manual transmission has been replaced by a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox across all models.
Golf R Increases Power Along with Euro Styling Package
The 2025 Volkswagen Golf R commands a starting price of $47,100. This represents an increase of $1,435, making it slightly less expensive than the Audi S3, which starts at $48,700.
While this may seem like a comparison of two different categories, both vehicles feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 328 hp (245 kW / 333 PS). They are equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that distributes power to a standard all-wheel drive system.
Styling updates mirror those of the GTI, with the Golf R riding on 19-inch forged alloy wheels that are 20% lighter than those of the previous version. The interior is well-equipped, featuring heated and ventilated Nappa leather front seats, heated rear seats, and a sunroof. The hot hatch also includes new trim details, a keyless entry system, a harman/kardon premium audio system, and a 15-watt wireless charger for phones.
The Golf R Black Edition is priced at $48,415 and comes in colors such as Mythos Black Metallic, Pure White, or Lapiz Blue Metallic, featuring gloss black 19-inch wheels. This model includes tinted headlights, black badging, and black brake calipers, along with dark accents and carbon fiber interior trim.
For buyers seeking something more distinctive, a $3,795 Euro Style Package is available for both the Golf R and Golf R Black Edition. This lightweight package reduces weight by 15 lbs (6.8 kg) with fabric seats, the omission of a sunroof, and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system.
