Used car buyers on GM's CarBravo platform may receive a full year of coverage or only 30 days, depending on their vehicle and location.

GM has increased the used car warranties on select inventory within CarBravo.

Newer vehicles are eligible for 12 months or 12,000 miles of comprehensive coverage.

High-mileage vehicles only qualify for 30-day limited coverage.

Purchasing a used car can be uncertain, as the condition of the vehicle is often unknown. To alleviate some of this uncertainty, GM is providing additional reassurance by extending the bumper-to-bumper limited warranty for vehicles bought through its used car retail platform, CarBravo.

With this new program, the warranty is now 12 months or 12,000 miles (19,312 km), whichever comes first, with no deductible required for repairs. Additionally, customers will benefit from 24-hour roadside assistance and courtesy transportation.

However, there are some important conditions. Not all vehicles qualify for the full warranty. Models that are 10-15 years old and have between 100,000-149,999 miles (160,934-241,400 km) on them only receive a 30-day/1,000 mile (1609 km) limited powertrain warranty.

Moreover, GM indicated that "coverage and terms differ in the State of California," although specifics were not provided. The covered components also vary between GM and non-GM vehicles.

Despite the details and conditions, GM states that this expanded warranty "assists customers in managing the total cost of ownership at a time when affordable vehicle options are crucial." They believe that "in a competitive used car market, transparency, convenience, and protection must go hand-in-hand."

Although CarBravo may not be as recognized as some competitors, the website currently lists over 16,000 vehicles in the United States. Many listings feature newer GM models, but there are options dating back to 2010. The site encompasses a wide variety of vehicles, including BMW Z4s, Mercedes S-Classes, Chevy Sparks, and Buick Lucernes.
