Volvo has become closely associated with station wagons just as it established itself as a mainstream automaker in America. Even if you aren’t a car enthusiast, a Volvo wagon is a classic symbol of suburban life—particularly for those of us raised in the '80s, '90s, and '00s. However, that era is coming to a close; if you wish to purchase a new Volvo wagon in the U.S., you only have a few months left to place your order.

The Volvo V60 CC, the final wagon offered by the Swedish brand in the United States (and one of my dog’s favorites), will cease production in April 2026. The order book will close at the end of next month.

In a press release discussing the relocation of XC60 SUV production to the U.S. and celebrating corporate achievements, Volvo announced:

“As our customers in the U.S. overwhelmingly prefer SUVs, early next year we’ll take our last orders for this generation of Volvo wagons, with the V60 Cross Country production ending in April 2026. For U.S. customers who appreciate wagons, there is still a little time: orders will be accepted until late January 2026, and we anticipate having the V60 Cross Country in retailer inventory for a few months afterward.”

I’ll admit, I haven’t been as invested in Volvos as many other car enthusiasts. However, I do appreciate a good wagon, and I’m disappointed to see the longroof segment diminish. I'm particularly let down that Volvo didn't choose to make a big exit by releasing a high-performance competitor to the BMW M5 Touring, Audi RS 6 Avant, and Mercedes-AMG wagon. (After all, BMW has claimed that the demand for its high-performance wagon has surpassed that of the sedan.) But, no, it doesn’t come as a surprise that this didn’t occur.

It's important to note that Volvo did qualify its statement by mentioning that orders are closing for “this generation” of wagons, but the phrase “For U.S. customers who love wagons, there’s still a bit of time” sounds rather disheartening.

At least there remain plenty of relatively new and classic Volvos in America available for fans to purchase used. Speaking of which, this seems like a perfect time to revisit one of our YouTube clips from last year, featuring my friend and colleague Aaron Segal’s exceptionally cool V70R:
