Believe it or not, the Jeep Gladiator has never before had a factory winch available. What's even more surprising is that no stock midsize truck has been equipped with one, despite the rise of high-performance off-road vehicles like the Chevy Colorado ZR2. Jeep is addressing this with a package called Shadow Ops, exclusively offered on the premium Rubicon trim.
The Shadow Ops package includes more than just the Warn winch, which we’ll discuss shortly. It's noteworthy how seamlessly the large spool fits into the steel bumper. Anyone can attach a winch to the front of their vehicle, but if you own a new Gladiator Rubicon, you likely prefer a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. This winch is cleverly positioned between a pair of recovery hooks, sitting just short of the seven-slot grille, and looks rugged with the cable ready for action.
This new variant of the Gladiator Rubicon features a color-matched design from front to back, save for the satin black grille for contrast. The fender flares and three-piece Freedom Top complement each other well, and Jeep mentions that while the Shadow Ops package is priced at $4,995, it’s actually just $2,605 more than the cost of body-color components alone. Essentially, you’re paying for the expertly integrated winch and distinctive badging.

Although I can do without the flashy branding, this may well be the ultimate Gladiator until the 392 V8 model arrives. Jeep has remained committed to its pickup as a specialized trail vehicle—I recognize that the Mojave exists, but still—and owners typically prioritize adding a winch as one of their first upgrades for off-road excursions. With big tires, a sway bar that disconnects via push-button controls, and a robust cable to help extricate you from tough situations, not much can impede your journey.
These Gladiators are expected to start arriving at dealerships in February 2026, so it’s time to start saving. This model will likely cost around $60,000 in total, if not more.
