There's a reason to avoid launching fireworks in your front yard when vehicles are nearby.

An illegal firework recently detonated under a 4Runner in Hawaii, and the whole incident was captured on video.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with Reckless Endangering.

Although the Fourth of July was months ago, a random firework is causing quite a stir after it exploded beneath a Toyota 4Runner. The event was recorded and authorities noted it illustrates the “uncontrollable” and “dangerous nature of illegal explosives.”

In a brief video taken on October 16, a man can be seen crouching in a front yard, igniting a firework. He then places it in a tube and retreats.

The firework ascends and performs several loops before crashing down and striking the 4Runner.

In a panic, the man rushes over to seemingly retrieve the firework. Fortunately, it detonates before he can reach it. He then inspects the damage, curses, and returns inside the house.

The Kaua‘i Police Department received reports about the explosion and arrived at the scene around 11:30 a.m. local time. While the man reportedly fled, 24-year-old Bronze Robson was later arrested for Reckless Endangering in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor with bail set at $1,000.

No injuries occurred during the incident, and the actual damage to the 4Runner is still unclear. However, Assistant Chief Darren Rose stated, “This type of reckless behavior puts lives and property at risk.” He further commented, “Illegal fireworks have no place in our neighborhoods.”
