A Camaro Z/28, buried away for 41 years and showing only 306 miles on the odometer, has been discovered | Carscoops
The Camaro available for auction displays no wear on either its exterior or interior.
This vehicle has only been driven 306 miles and remains in like-new condition.
It features the optional high-output 190 hp V8 engine.
Inside, the cabin boasts beautiful light-colored vinyl and fabric.
Few cars excite classic muscle car fans quite like the Camaro Z/28, but sourcing an original, untouched example can be challenging. Thankfully, we have done the research and found what may be one of the best Z/28s in the U.S.
Specifically, this is a 1984 model currently listed on Hagerty’s marketplace. It's located in Zebulon, North Carolina. While it may be a bit out of the way, a car of this caliber could warrant a trip across the state.
Hardly Used
The odometer reveals the real story: just 306 miles, or 492 kilometers, since its purchase. For a vehicle over forty years old, that figure is nearly unbelievable.
According to the listing, it was first delivered to a Chevrolet dealership in Pennsylvania and has since lived in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and California before being added to the current owner’s collection last year.
While there are no detailed records of its storage or servicing over the years, the visual condition speaks volumes. Every panel and trim looks as sharp and clean as it did when it first rolled off the production line.
Some Camaro Z/28s from this time were equipped with a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 that produced a mere 145 hp, but this particular car boasts the L69 High Output engine, rated at 190 hp. While it may not be a tire-shredding powerhouse, it is still impressive.
The downside of this engine is that it is solely paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, meaning this Z/28 lacks a manual option, which might be a drawback for some enthusiasts.
The black paint appears flawless and shows no significant blemishes, scratches, or dents. Inside, the cabin features cream-colored vinyl with fabric seat bolsters and headrests. The seats exhibit no visible wear, lacking even minor cracks or creases.
With less than a day remaining before the auction concludes, anyone seriously interested in acquiring a piece of 1980s performance history should act quickly. Opportunities like this don't last. You can view the listing here.
