The Next Kia Telluride Is Set to Be Unveiled Soon | Carscoops
The well-known Telluride is expanding and likely receiving an entirely new hybrid powertrain.
Kia has previewed the 2027 Telluride ahead of its official unveiling on November 20 at the LA Auto Show, featuring a sleeker design.
We can anticipate two new powertrains, including a hybrid option producing 329 horsepower.
Six years ago, we declared the Kia Telluride to be “large, luxurious and ready to take on the Explorer.” This proved accurate as the model swiftly became Kia’s second best-selling vehicle and one of the top-selling three-row crossovers in the United States.
Although many things have changed since 2019, the vehicle's popularity has not waned; in fact, sales have risen annually and are set to establish another record in 2025.
This is a remarkable feat for an older crossover, but an all-new model is on the way. Kia gave a brief tease earlier today and confirmed that the vehicle will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 20.
The company hasn't revealed much about the 2027 Telluride, but spy photographers have already captured images of the redesigned model, which will resemble the new Hyundai Palisade.
As part of the redesign, the crossover will feature streamlined bodywork and flush door handles, along with angular accents, a robust rear pillar, and an egg crate-style grille. Additionally, designers have included vertical lighting units with distinct C-shaped graphics.
Rugged Variant Also Coming
In addition to the standard version, spy photographers have also captured a rugged variant that resembles the Palisade XRT Pro. This version is marked by a unique front bumper with red recovery hooks, a lifted suspension, and sturdier tires.
Under the hood, we can expect two new engines, including a 3.5-liter V6 producing 287 horsepower (214 kW / 291 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. This represents a slight decrease from the current 3.8-liter V6, which generates 291 horsepower (217 kW / 295 PS) and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm).
We can also look forward to a Telluride Hybrid, equipped with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a 1.65 kWh battery, and two electric motors integrated into a six-speed automatic transmission. This setup is expected to deliver a combined output of 329 horsepower (245 kW / 334 PS) and 339 lb-ft (459 Nm) of torque. More importantly, it may allow the crossover to achieve over 30 mpg on the highway.
