Salem police claim a suspect from Montana vandalized numerous luxury cars before being apprehended in Portland.

About 70 luxury vehicles were defaced, resulting in a total damage of $155,000.

The incidents occurred at two dealerships in Oregon over a span of three days.

Authorities confiscated firearms and linked the suspect to further criminal charges.

While crime may not yield rewards, some individuals manage to evade consequences. However, those who repeatedly engage in similar offenses decrease their chances of freedom, and that’s a lesson a Montana man learned the hard way. Law enforcement reports that he vandalized around 70 luxury vehicles at various dealerships, along with causing damage to other cars. He is now in custody.

According to Salem Police in Oregon, the initial incident took place on September 11. Surveillance footage captured an individual, believed to be the suspect, vandalizing approximately 35 vehicles at Mercedes & Acura of Salem on Commercial Street SE. Investigators estimate that the damage that night amounted to about $58,000.

      Luxury Vehicle Rampage

Video evidence obtained by KOIN shows a person arriving in a Range Rover Evoque at the scene. The individual exits the vehicle and appears to slash tires and possibly scratch several cars parked there, including some belonging to customers awaiting service or pickup.

The situation escalated three days later, when a similar occurrence happened at BMW of Salem on Van Ness Ave NE. The perpetrator damaged another 35 vehicles, resulting in about $100,000 in damages. Additionally, law enforcement believes they have identified at least 20 individual victims linked to the same suspect outside the dealerships.

Authorities have named the suspect as Brian Werner from Kalispell, Montana. He was arrested on Monday, September 16, for DUI and reckless driving. Police later discovered that Werner had an outstanding warrant in Montana related to firearms and criminal mischief incidents. Ultimately, they seized his vehicle and numerous firearms, according to NBC Montana.

      Possibility of More Victims?

Despite these developments, police are still inquiring whether there are more victims along the route from Montana to Oregon. Anyone who believes Werner may have damaged their vehicle is encouraged to report it or contact the Salem Police Department, referencing case number SMP25079703.
