Though I’ve never visited one, I imagine that a salesperson at an Ineos showroom isn't particularly busy. Consequently, the sales representative who recently accepted a Ferrari F40 as a trade for an Ineos Grenadier likely saw the iconic supercar coming from a distance. I wonder what crossed their mind as the F40 approached the lot—did they think it was a joke?

It definitely wasn’t. A Florida Man engaged in some typical Florida Man activities, which on that day included trading one of the most sought-after supercars ever made for a specialized British off-roader. Additionally, they handed over a check for $2.4 million.

As reported by Newsweek, when the salesperson presented the deal to their manager, they were advised, “You’ve got to go for it and finalize it. So, he wrote a check for $2.4 million,” shared George Ratcliffe, president of the Americas at Ineos Automotive, with the publication.

The buyer is said to plan on using their new Grenadier on their farm, but the report did not elaborate on the F40’s history. How did this individual come to own the supercar? Was it a collector who simply became tired of the F40? Or perhaps they inherited it and had no interest in maintaining it? Also, why the rush? It’s likely they could have profited more by selling it privately or at auction, but that would have been a more complicated and time-consuming process.

Everything about this seems quite peculiar. I’m sure there’s an interesting story behind it, one that I hope will eventually come to light.

Regardless, the dealership reportedly resold the car the very next day for $2.5 million. So it seems that everyone left satisfied.
