A woman is accused of brandishing a gun after rear-ending another vehicle at a traffic light in Houston.

Dashcam footage captured the entire encounter, aiding in the identification of the suspect.

The suspect is facing a second-degree felony charge for assault with a deadly weapon.

A case of road rage in Houston’s Galleria area has escalated into severe criminal charges following a minor traffic incident that resulted in a frightening confrontation. While road rage often leads to irrational behavior, this situation is especially concerning. The woman, who is now facing charges, instigated the confrontation after colliding with the driver she subsequently threatened.

The event occurred around noon on July 24 at the intersection of Westheimer Road and Post Oak Boulevard. Authorities report that 33-year-old Kristal Garcia rear-ended a Toyota Corolla while both vehicles were stopped at a light. Rather than calmly exchanging contact information following the low-speed collision, Garcia reportedly displayed a firearm.

      Dashcam Footage Captures Escalation

Investigators state that she drove beside the Toyota, brandished a revolver, and shouted, “Do you wanna get killed or what?” before fleeing the scene. The dashcam from the victim’s vehicle recorded footage of the minor collision, potentially showing the suspect waving a gun from her Porsche before driving next to the Toyota.

This footage played a crucial role in helping officers identify Garcia, who has an extensive criminal history. Police report she has been implicated in almost 20 crimes over her lifetime, although many were dismissed. However, this charge appears unlikely to be dismissed.

Authorities have charged her with assault with a deadly weapon, classified as a second-degree felony in Texas. She is currently held in jail with a bond set at $40,000. If convicted, she could face over ten years in prison due to this incident.

      A Cautionary Tale About Dashcams

The victim advised Click2Houston on the importance of having a dashcam in today’s world, emphasizing its significant impact in this situation. Without it, law enforcement may still be searching for Garcia. As we have unfortunately witnessed repeatedly over the years, road rage seldom has a rewarding outcome. Thankfully, everyone emerged from this incident uninjured.
