      The proprietor of a Li Auto L9 transformed the SUV into a makeshift aquarium.

      The individual supposedly forgot a bucket while fishing and opted to use his vehicle instead.

      It appeared that the fish were gasping for air as bystanders captured the moment on video.

      Over the years, we've witnessed some questionable car modifications, but this may be the most unsettling and arguably the most disturbing yet. The hood of the Li Auto L9 SUV has been turned into a functional aquarium, featuring live fish swimming beneath a sealed layer of plastic.

      Initially, one might think this is some sort of AI-generated stunt, but the footage seems very real, supported by extensive coverage and multiple video uploads.

      Clips of the modified vehicle began circulating on social media after the range-extender SUV was seen parked along a busy road in Liaoning province, China. A sheet of plastic covers the hood, tightly sealed against the built-in LED light bar. The enclosed area is filled with water, housing several large fish.

      A Makeshift Tank on Wheels

      Though the arrangement looks surprisingly intact, water can be observed slowly leaking from the enclosure. According to a report from News Flare, the owner’s explanation is just as unexpected as the modification itself: the L9 owner reportedly went fishing one day, forgot to bring a container, and decided that the hood would act as an impromptu holding tank, resulting in what is currently seen.

      Whether intended as a joke or a genuine attempt at problem-solving, the outcome has elicited a mix of disgust and criticism online.

      While the owner seems somewhat proud of his creation, the result is undeniably inhumane. The fish were likely caught for the purpose of being killed, possibly to be eaten, but instead, they have been left to experience their final moments in a shallow, makeshift tank, exposed for all to see as if they were props or circus performers.

      It's unclear how long the fish were stuck on the car's hood, but traffic authorities were reportedly called to the location and determined that the modification turning the SUV into an aquarium was illegal, rendering the vehicle unfit for road use in its current condition.
