      Suzuki’s Alto has been updated with redesigned bumpers and a new rear spoiler for 2025.

      Even in an era fixated on large SUVs and ever-busier urban roads, there remains a certain appeal in a small car that understands its identity. One of Japan’s most beloved city cars, the Suzuki Alto, is undergoing a minor refresh for 2025. This subtle facelift comes nearly four years after the introduction of the ninth-generation model, aimed at enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and fuel economy.

      The updates do not drastically change the Alto, but they provide a bit more refinement. The front has been updated with a new grille resembling a mustache, and the lower air intakes have been redesigned to better align with the more rounded bumper profile. Most of the bodywork remains from the previous model; however, there is now a roof spoiler at the rear for a fresh appearance.

      Moderate Aesthetic Changes, Significant Benefits

      Although the visual changes are minimal, Suzuki claims they improve the Alto’s aerodynamics, resulting in better fuel efficiency. This is significant since the car maintains the same 660cc engines offered in both naturally aspirated and mild-hybrid formats.

      The hybrid version now boasts a WLTC fuel economy rating of 28.2 km/l, equating to 3.55 liters per 100 kilometers or 66.3 miles per gallon, marking a slight but noticeable improvement from the previous 65 mpg figure.

      Suzuki also states that this makes the Alto the most fuel-efficient gasoline hybrid mini car in Japan. It is important to clarify that this Japanese market Alto is distinct from the model sold in India, despite sharing its name.

      The updated Alto measures just 3,395 mm long (approximately 133.7 inches) and also features a broader color selection. A new Terracotta Pink Metallic color joins the lineup, along with additional two-tone options like Foggy Blue Pearl Metallic, Chiffon Ivory Metallic, and Nocturne Blue Pearl for the roof.

      Inside, the four-seat cabin remains unchanged, but the 7-inch infotainment system is now compatible with Suzuki Connect, enabling remote A/C control via a dedicated smartphone app. Furthermore, the top-tier Hybrid X trim includes a genuine leather steering wheel and chrome door handles. However, it's noteworthy that the base model features steel wheels and lacks a display on the faceplate.

      Safety and Pricing

      Standard safety features now comprise Dual Sensor Brake Support II, lane departure warning, and a traffic signal departure notification system.

      The refreshed Suzuki Alto is currently available for order in Japan. Pricing begins at ¥1,142,900 (around $7,700) for the entry-level non-hybrid front-wheel-drive model, while the fully equipped mild-hybrid variant with four-wheel drive reaches up to ¥1,639,000 (approximately $11,100).
