Cadillac is recalling more than 40,000 Lyriqs that are experiencing issues with their displays going blank.
The 2023 and 2024 models will be updated with new software to resolve this problem.
The update can either be conducted over-the-air or performed at local dealerships.
The Cadillac Lyriq has gained popularity for General Motors and has attracted new clientele to the brand. However, the electric crossover is currently facing a significant recall.
A total of 41,376 vehicles from the 2023 and 2024 model years are affected, as they feature a 33-inch curved display that may go dark while driving. This situation poses a safety concern because it could disable the instrument cluster, rearview camera, and other federally required safety features.
Additional information: The 2026 Lyriq-V features 615 HP and is the fastest Cadillac to date.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that GM initiated an investigation in March after receiving customer complaints regarding display malfunctions. This inquiry revealed 1,209 vehicles that allegedly experienced issues with their screens going blank.
Upon reviewing the data, the company determined that “the vast majority of these occurrences involved 2023-2024 model year vehicles equipped with video display control modules” that had not been updated to the latest software. Although the automaker was not aware of any injuries or accidents linked to the issue, it opted to proceed with the recall.
As this is a software-related issue, the solution is relatively simple and can be implemented through an over-the-air update. Alternatively, customers can visit a dealership to have the update installed by a technician.
