Readers have cast their votes for concept cars that are so strange, you’re relieved they never went into production.

From unusual luxury to a V12 truck, these design experiments truly pushed the limits.

Concept cars can be quite entertaining, ranging from eccentric and experimental to often simply bizarre. They provide designers with a unique opportunity to unleash their creativity, sometimes resulting in outcomes that are more about “what were they thinking?” than “futuristic.” Recently, we asked you to identify the concept cars that made you grateful they never reached the production stage. Here are the most notable (and regrettable) selections.

Chrysler Atlantic: A Missed Opportunity for Grandeur

Let’s begin with the 1995 Chrysler Atlantic, which sought to embody class but instead appeared more suitable for a poor ‘90s sci-fi movie than a luxury showroom. The name is quite fitting: it’s large, attempts to convey a sense of grandeur, and has that ambitious aesthetic. Unfortunately, the actual design falls short of its promises.

Sadly for Chrysler, the concept failed to achieve any of those qualities. In some ways, it resembles a modernized Bugatti Atlantic, although its proportions are not as beautifully executed.

It’s hard to pinpoint whether it’s the opposite-facing teardrop motifs or the peculiar rear end, but it simply doesn’t look appealing. One commenter, Buyfire, noted, “Hispano Suiza should have taken Chrysler’s cue and avoided making their version of this.”

Isuzu Como F1 Super Truck: Why Not, Right?

Next in line is the Isuzu Como F1 Super Truck from 1991. Indeed, it’s a collection of odd terms when combined. Intriguingly, the concept is even stranger than it sounds.

This is a two-door vehicle featuring a truck bed and a V12 engine under the hood. And not just any V12, but one specifically designed for F1. While the design is eccentric, I must admit I find it somewhat appealing. The world could benefit from more unique creations like this.

The Isuzu Zen: Robocop's Vehicle for Yoga Class

Continuing with another Isuzu, we now examine the Zen. Yes, a term that denotes peace and tranquility also describes a concept that resembles this.

In my view, it appears to have jumped out of a Robocop (I date myself here) movie, looking for someone to apprehend. It almost feels like a precursor to the Pontiac Aztek; however, to be fair, it’s not that unattractive. In fact, it’s hard to dispute its selection, which ranks third in the list.

BMW Fun Car: For the Motorcycle Fan Who Dislikes Balance

The BMW Fun Car takes the silver spot. While it’s indeed the actual name, this is only somewhat of a BMW concept. The manufacturer did not design it with any particular production ambition in mind. Instead, the car emerged from a student challenge organized by the brand.

According to Story-Cars, the goal was to merge the benefits of a motorcycle with the safety of a car. If long-time BMW enthusiasts didn’t appreciate the recent direction of the grille design, we can only imagine their reaction to this.

Rolls-Royce 103EX: The Future No One Requested

Finally, we have the Rolls-Royce 103EX Concept, the winner, or perhaps the loser, in this scenario. Designed to represent what the brand envisions producing in 100 years, it boasts some of the most peculiar design elements ever presented.

The doors are hinged to open backward, the roof flips up like a gullwing, and there’s no steering wheel. To me, it appears more realistic than the others on this list. Nevertheless, it seems the public is not fond of it.

Those are your most disliked concepts. Is there another one worthy of mention? Share it below, and let’s see if it garners more votes than these.

While it didn’t make your list, who can forget the Acura Advanced Sedan Concept from 2006?
