The King of Rock 'n' Roll had a passion for attracting attention that matched his love for luxurious vehicles like Benzes, Lincolns, and Cadillacs. This eBay discovery could be the most significant one yet—right after the private jet that was converted into an RV. Nonetheless, this striking pink Cadillac Eldorado, shaped like a guitar, has been cleaned up and is now available for purchase.

If this car looked like a piano, I might associate it with Liberace. However, a pink guitar? That seems fitting for Elvis Presley. As reported by Silodrome, this creation came from the famous car builder Jay Ohrberg, known for designing K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, the Batmobile from Tim Burton’s Batman films, and another pink vehicle—the Pink Panther limousine. (As a side note, you can view a range of Ohrberg's cinematic vehicles at the Hollywood Cars Museum in Las Vegas, which also showcases the extravagant Liberace Garage.)

The base for Elvis' guitar-on-wheels was a 1970 Eldorado, featuring an 8.2-liter V8 engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain generated 394 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. Not surprisingly, the vehicle was substantial, weighing in at 4,696 pounds—before Ohrberg worked his magic on it.

To construct the “fretboard” midsection, Ohrberg cut the car in half just behind the A-pillar. He then connected the front and back with a frame made from welded tubular steel. The rear was also extensively altered, crafted from fiberglass to form the guitar's curved shape and sizable fins.

The entire project took two years to complete. Silodrome mentions that, when finished, the guitar car included not just the fretboard but also tuners and strings. Coincidentally, the area where the soundhole would be on a traditional guitar happened to be where the driver would sit.

And it was used; Mr. Presley reportedly drove this transformed Eldorado to one of his Vegas performances. At 12.5 meters (41 feet) long, it likely felt like a lowrider RV, perfectly suitable for Las Vegas. However, after its time in Sin City, the car’s history becomes unclear.

How did this vehicle end up in France, where the eBay seller claims it is located? That’s quite a distance from the Strip or Graceland. The condition is evident in the images, showing that this celebrity car is in rough shape. This explains the relatively low asking price of 10,000 Euros (around $11,400).

The car shows rusted holes where the tuners used to be, the strings are absent, the fretboard frame is exposed, and the cockpit lacks its tinted dome. While the paint remains pink, it features various shades. Additionally, the vehicle is described as “non-rolling.” Fortunately, the Eldorado retains its custom “1-ELVIS” license plate.

Hopefully, the future owner will restore this vehicle to its former legendary rockstar glory. Perhaps Jesse Garon, the king of Elvis impersonators, can add another pink Cadillac to his collection.
