A black 2023 Audi A6 in Brooklyn has been caught speeding excessively, racking up 563 speed camera tickets in school zones last year, as reported by Transportation Alternatives, a group advocating for public transit. They compiled a list of the top 10 school-zone speeders in New York City, revealing that most offenders drive fairly ordinary vehicles, with less than half featuring luxury or sporty models. Remarkably, the worst violator is this specific Audi sedan.

In addition to the 563 tickets in 2024, the Audi has already received 177 more this year. The owner has reportedly paid $46,636.60 in fines to this point but still owes an outstanding amount of $11,205.63. All violations occurred in Brooklyn, mostly caught by cameras placed on Ocean Parkway and Ocean Court. Although Transportation Alternatives does not specify whether it’s the 2.0-liter turbo-four or the 3.0-liter V6 model, it’s evident that speed isn’t dependent on power when it comes to school zones.

The Audi owner isn't the only one incurring hefty fines for speeding. The second-ranked driver operates a 2015 Mercedes C300 and was flagged by school-zone cameras 474 times in 2024, but has yet to be ticketed in 2025. However, this individual is less inclined to pay their fines, with a staggering total of $47,858.17 owed and only $3,531.69 paid so far. Most of their infractions occurred in Manhattan, indicating a pattern concerning the locations of these violations.

Another Mercedes, a 2020 CLA, occupies the third spot with 295 tickets since 2024 and an owed amount of $24,716.62. Following it is a 2022 Kia Forte, which accrued 246 tickets in 2024. While the list appears to be sorted by the number of violations last year, if you include the Forte's 73 tickets in 2025, it would rank higher than the third Mercedes. The remaining vehicles on the list are mainly ordinary cars, including some larger family vehicles like a Chrysler Pacifica.

The list was created using public records from the New York City Department of Finance, per Transportation Alternatives. Here’s the full top 10:

      1. 2023 Audi A6

      2. 2015 Mercedes C300

      3. 2020 Mercedes CLA-Class

      4. 2022 Kia Forte

      5. 2022 Chrysler Pacifica

      6. 2022 Range Rover

      7. 2024 Kia Forte

      8. 2023 Chevy Suburban

      9. 2023 Toyota Camry

      10. 2018 Ford taxi

Aside from some basic luxury, there are no high-end sports cars listed—not even a Mustang. Just regular people like you and me, seemingly always in a rush.
